His mother from the House Targareyan and his father from the House Velaryon, though he had to grown as a warrior according to his father's line while he became a Dragonrider as a gift from his mother's side. According to writer's view Ser Laenor is the person who sacrificed the most in the series other than anyone.  Agreeing to marry Rhaenyra is one of these sacrifice
