Why are there no wild dragons in Game of Thrones and HotD
Slight Spoilers for HOTD 💀💀💀💀💀💀
Other than Daenerys' three dragons, no wild dragons existed throughout Game of Thrones. There are three wild dragons in HOTD.
Grey Ghost was one of them. He resided in Dragonmont's eastern sector. Even throughout the Dance of Dragons, which we'll witness in HOTD, he never had any riders. He stayed a wild dragon until 130 AC, when a ship's crew witnessed Grey Ghost engaged in combat with another dragon at Dragonmont.
But upon his return to Dragonstone, Aegon II's dragon Sunfyre consumed a portion of him.
Sheepstealer was the other. He dwelt behind Dragonmont as well, and he would hunt between Driftwater and Wendwater. He got his name from his propensity to chase and eat sheep. For a long time, he had no riders, but everyone who tried to mount him met their demise. Jacaerys Velaryon eventually summoned possible "dragonseeds," and Nettles rode Sheepstealer, bringing him sheep and taming him.
Silverwing would technically be a wild dragon. She was claimed by Ulf White during the Dance, but he died from poisoning. So, she remained at Red Lake, riderless and wild.
